My name is Julia Ismambetova. I was born and live in Almaty, Kazakhstan. After finishing school, I studied in the Faculty of Art at the Almaty State University. After I completed my studies, I lectured at the Arts and Crafts Department of the same University for three years.

I have been working with batiks for 11 years, and each new batik still gives me great pleasure to create. My works are not batiks in the traditional sense or form, although I do use paraffin and some conventional techniques in my work.

I would use the definition "graphics" to best define my style of work, and prefer to classify my work as "graphics on silk". I work in my studio every day and use crepe de Chine and Pebeo, Marabu, Javana paints for my works.
